About the Role
The Company is seeking a President for its Art Business, a pivotal role that encompasses private sales, portfolio acquisitions and consignments, and collection management. The successful candidate will be responsible for team management, setting and executing the business strategy, and ensuring operational excellence across all three functions. This includes building and leading a sales and operations team, overseeing the collection management process, and collaborating with other departments to support the art business's growth. The role demands a leader with a strong background in the art market, particularly in the post-war and contemporary segment, and a proven track record in a revenue-generating role within a leading gallery, auction house, or art business. Applicants for the President, Art Business position at the company should have a minimum of 10 years' experience in a leadership role within the art market, with at least 3 years' specifically in sales team management. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the $1M+ art market, be adept at people management and development, and possess a direct, low-ego communication style. The role requires a highly organized, proactive individual who is comfortable operating across both the qualitative and quantitative sides of the business. Key responsibilities include maintaining a strong market presence, driving team goals, and unlocking new revenue opportunities. The candidate must be eligible for full-time US employment and be able to work from the company's New York office.
