About the Position

Job Title: RN Centralized Registry Float Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Med Surg (Medical Surgical) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Indiana RN license or compact license required Certifications: BLS through AHA required Must-Have: Candidate must have at least 1.5 years of Level 1, Level 2, or tertiary experience. Candidate must have at least 1 year of MedSurg experience at a large hospital (600+ beds). Description: We care for a diverse population with varying diagnoses including chronic illnesses such as COPD, Diabetes, CHF, and end-stage renal disease. We manage GI issues such as pancreatitis, bleeding, and inflammatory bowel disease. Infections managed include pneumonia, cellulitis, sepsis, UTI, and c-diff. Neurological issues such as stroke, dementia, and traumatic brain injuries are also within our scope. Patients with mental health disorders including depression, anxiety, and substance abuse are cared for. Procedures performed include colonoscopies, thoracentesis, paracentesis, bronchoscopy, and minor surgeries. General job duties involve medical-surgical nursing care. Skills and tasks include assessments, care planning, interprofessional communication, and utilization of the electronic health record. Equipment utilized includes electronic record systems, medication dispensing machines, blood glucose monitoring, intravenous pumps, wound vacs, and telemetry monitoring. Candidates will float to areas in greatest need, allowing for a patient ratio of 1:5-6. Dress code requires wearing Caribbean Blue scrubs. Floating to other medical units may be necessary. A structured training and orientation program is provided, including general hospital orientation and nursing orientation with Epic classes included. Candidates should be prepared for a schedule that includes weekends.
