Analyst I to Branch Chief

Job Description and Duties

Under the direction of the Branch Chief, the Analyst I will provide direct administrative and program support to the branch and lead analysts in coordinating technical assistance to County Child Welfare Departments and their multidisciplinary partners, supporting the maintenance of internal systems and correspondence, and assisting lead analysts in developing responses to policy and practice interpretations as they relate to the implementation of the Family First Prevention Services (FFPS) Program and other major prevention initiatives and reform efforts. This position requires a skill set to work independently, communicate clearly, be organized, possess relationship skills to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, and the ability to connect the work to the mission.

Working Conditions

This position may be eligible for Hybrid work. In-person attendance is required based on the operational needs of the position and in accordance with the Statewide Hybrid Telework Policy, Government Code section 14200, and any applicable department telework requirements. The successful candidate must reside in California at the time of appointment. Proof of California residency may be required .

Please note: Regular commute is not compensable.

* Knowledge of policy-making and administrative processes, including state and federal legislation, regulatory and budgetary processes, and the roles of the various branches and levels of government.

* The ability to identify problems and develop creative strategies to address problems; the ability to seek mutually acceptable solutions.

* The ability to communicate orally and in writing in a well-organized, accurate, clear and concise manner.

* The ability to plan implementation of and manage assignments to completion within specified time frames.

* The ability to maintain poise, good humor and flexibility while working in a time-sensitive, deadline-driven, results-oriented environment.

* The ability to participate as a contributing team member.

* Detail oriented with analytical skills and effective editing skills.

* Skilled in using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook and SharePoint). Knowledge of child welfare services programs, county social welfare agencies, community organization, and CDSS administrative and support services, children's services and other related programs is desirable. Knowledge of family dynamics and issues affecting foster caregivers is also desirable. Excellent writing, speaking, collaboration, customer service and problem-solving skills are mandatory.
