• Pay Rate: $47.93-$51.93 / Hour (USD)
• Shift / Schedule: Nights, 3x12s - 18:45-07:15

Job Summary

This is a Medical/Surgical Telemetry (MS/Tele) travel nursing position with night shift scheduling on a 13-week contract. Locals are approved at the travel rate. The unit will accept first-time travelers. RTO after booking is not allowed and is not allowed to be worked out onsite; any call offs or additional RTO on unit could possibly result in a contract cancellation and DNR.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care for patients with diagnoses including COPD, CHF, Diabetes, infectious diseases, rehab, and typical med/surg and telemetry conditions
• Manage and interpret dysrhythmias, including telemetry monitoring on the unit
• Administer blood products and manage peripheral line care
• Start and maintain IVs
• Administer oxygen via nasal cannula and oxygen tanks; manage oxygen administration
• Care for patients with CVA (Cerebrovascular Accident)
• Implement isolation precautions and proper PPE use
• Float as needed within the facility
• Adhere to self-scheduling requirements with every third weekend (8 shifts per 13-week contract)
• Be available for on-call if census is low (traveler may be placed on call if scheduled but not needed)
• Attend unit orientation (24-36 hours) and hospital orientation week one; traveler must be available for classes each day

• Telemetry - on-the-unit monitoring
• Interpretation of dysrhythmias
• Management of dysrhythmias
• Blood product administration
• Peripheral line care/management
• Starting and maintaining IVs
• CVA (Cerebrovascular Accident) care
• Nasal cannula and oxygen administration
• Oxygen tank management
• Isolation precautions/PPE

Preferred Skills

• IV insulin protocols
• Heparin management
• Insulin management
• Manage cardiac drips (no titration)
• BiPAP/CPAP management
• High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
• Non-invasive airway management
• Oral suctioning
• Wound care/wound vac
• Community hospital experience preferred

Education Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license required
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification preferred
• NIHSS certification preferred

Required Experience

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
• First-time travelers accepted

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

• Night shift: 18:45-07:15, 3x12-hour shifts
• Target patient ratios: 1:5 to 1:6
• Average daily census: 8; unit has 12 beds
• Float requirement: Will float as needed
• Weekend requirement: Every third weekend (8 shifts for 13-week contracts)
• On-call required if there is a low census day; if the traveler is scheduled to work and is not needed/sent home, they will be placed on call - this rarely occurs
• Unit systems: Manual Dispense Carts, Paper charting, SBAR communication
• Scheduling type: Self-scheduling
• Scrubs: Navy blue
• Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)

• Unit will review all time off requests and determine if they can accommodate.
• Interview Availability: Please provide your candidate's interview availability for the next 72 hours when submitting. The manager will not offer without speaking to the candidate first.
• 36 hours can be offered.
