TOOL / FIXTURE MAKER, 1st Shift - Experience Required

What You Will Do The Tool/Fixture Maker, reporting to the Toolroom Supervisor, constructs, repairs, maintains, and calibrates machine shop dies, jigs, fixtures, and gauges. This role involves operating various machine tools and performing highly skilled tasks such as laying out, fitting, and assembling parts. The position may require significant developmental work, along with precise fitting and adjustments, and will sometimes require constructing tools when no design is available. The work is typically performed independently. Essential Tasks Analyze and interpret blueprints, schematics, and CAD drawings to create and build new fixtures, tools, and machine parts. Select appropriate raw materials and machine processes to complete projects to specifications. Operate all toolroom machines, such as knee mills, 3‑5 axis mills, lathes, surface grinders, and saws. Apply shop math, including geometry and trigonometry, to determine the proper path. Modify machines to control speed, material feed, or cut path as required to ensure a quality product. Verify conformance of finished workpieces to required tolerances using precision measuring equipment. Document actions by reporting labor in the ERP system. Operate under AS9100 quality standards and NADCAP accreditation. Maintain a safe and clean work environment with daily housekeeping duties. Accomplish organizational goals by taking ownership of new requests and adding value. Communicate effectively with Engineering and Management. Demonstrate dependability, integrity, cooperation, and initiative. Operate autonomously and self‑direct. Show reliable attendance and a respectful demeanor. Follow Hi‑Tek policies and procedures, including proper PPE usage. Perform any other duties needed to support our vision, mission, and values. Education and Experience High school diploma or GED equivalent. Trade school or apprenticeship in Tool Making or CNC Machining preferred. Must meet the ITAR definition of a 120.15 U.S. person. Proficient at operating all toolroom machines. Good technical math skills (shop math, geometry, trigonometry). Previous tool maker experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment required; aerospace experience strongly preferred. Troubleshooting and critical thinking skills. Communicate information clearly in English, both verbally and in writing. Physical Demand Levels Lift, push, and pull up to thirty‑five pounds regularly. Perform reaching, twisting, bending, and grasping to move and set tools, equipment, and materials at least 50% of the schedule. Stand at least 95% of the scheduled shift. Walk or climb stairs as needed to perform job duties. Operate overhead crane or other lifting equipment when necessary. Require close, color, and depth vision; maintain 20/20 vision (natural or corrected) and pass annual vision test. Shift Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. This hourly position includes a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your well‑being and success.
