Staff Accountant

Staff AccountantThe Staff Accountant will be part of our client's Corporate Accounting team and will assist with preparing deliverables critical to the Company's accounting close cycle, financial reporting and compliance with GAAP. Attention to detail and good analytical skills are essential. The candidate must possess a strong desire to learn, grow and refine their skills while providing enhancement to the current accounting function.Duties And ResponsibilitiesPreparation of journal entries, including all appropriate back-up informationCompleting monthly GL account reconciliations, researching reconciling items as neededTracking postage transactions and preparing customer postage reconciliationsTreasury management including some cash application and bank reconciliationsAssist/Back up Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functionsCross train on Job Costing functionsCollaborates with other departments to facilitate the timely and accurate receipt of financial dataParticipates in various aspects of monthly close process including timely journal entry and balance sheet reconciliation preparationAssisting with monthly income statement variance analysis and reportingResponding to data requests from auditors during annual auditPreparing monthly, quarterly and annual reports for internal and external stakeholdersSupporting Accounting and Finance functions with special projects and tasks as neededQualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting is required. Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, MBA or related area is highly desirable.3 years of relevant accounting experienceWorking knowledge of GAAP and standard accounting processes and proceduresAttention to detail and good analytical skillsGeneral accounting ERP software and Excel experienceProfessional, customer service minded, and comfortable interacting with various members of the companyDesire to learn, grow, and developAdditional InformationJob Location: Washington, DC (On-site only)Job Type: Full-Time
