Description The League of California Cities is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Staff Accountant II with a strong sense of accountability and a collaborative, service-oriented approach. This position provides comprehensive accounting and financial support to the Finance and Accounting Department, ensuring the timely and accurate processing of accounts payable and accounts receivable activities. The role supports key general ledger functions, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting, and works closely with internal departments to resolve accounting matters. The Staff Accountant II may also assist with additional accounting support functions for Cal Cities, with a strong emphasis on accuracy, internal controls, and customer service. The Finance and Operations team provides key operations in finance, human resources, facilities management, and information technology. Work Schedule and Travel Cal Cities\' normal workweek is Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Travels as needed to locations throughout California in the performance of duties. Compensation and Benefits Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience. Salary range $65,000 - $107,300. A qualified candidate will most likely fall in the $73,080 - $81,200 range. Retirement: California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS) 2% at 60 for classic CalPERS members; 2% at 62 for new CalPERS members. Deferred Compensation: Employees may defer compensation through Cal Cities\' Mission Square 457 defined contribution plan. Health/Dental/Vision Insurance: Employees participate in an optional benefit program that includes dental insurance, vision insurance and medical coverage selected from three HMO, two PPO plans, and two HSA plans. Life Insurance: Employer-paid life insurance coverage for employees. Supplemental employee-paid coverage is available. Other Benefits: Under employer\'s optional benefit program, employees may use a portion of their salaries on a pre-tax basis to cover childcare and/or certain health care expenses. Vacation: Two weeks annually; three weeks after five years of service. Holidays: Employees receive twelve paid holidays annually. Sick Leave: Employees earn twelve days annually. Requirements Bachelor\'s degree in accounting, finance, business administration or a related field is desirable and/or equivalent education and experience. Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in accounts receivable, accounts payable, or directly related field. Some direct connection to local government is desirable.
