Staff Accountant

Position Summary The Staff Accountant will support the accounting team in the execution of day-to-day financial operations across a portfolio of real estate development and operating assets. This role is responsible for transactional and process-driven accounting functions, including invoice processing, draw preparation, reconciliations, and audit/tax support. Responsibilities Own and execute month-end and quarter-end close processes Prepare and review detailed monthly bank reconciliations Record and analyze general ledger transactions to ensure accuracy and completeness Process and code invoices across multiple entities and projects Prepare payment packages, including supporting documentation and approvals Compile invoices and prepare monthly construction draw packages Track draw submissions, funding status, and lender requirements Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and variances Support year-end close, including audit and tax documentation Assist the Controller and Senior Accountants with ad hoc reporting and financial analysis Maintain organized documentation and accounting records Communicate effectively with Senior Accountants and Controller Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting 1–3 years of public accounting experience (real estate or development experience preferred) Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and reconciliations Proficiency in Excel and accounting systems (Yardi preferred) Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines across projects Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy Effective communication (written and verbal) with timely follow-up Self-motivated with a willingness to learn and grow Medical, dental, and vision insurance In-office role - downtown Chicago (5 days per week) #J-18808-Ljbffr Riverside Investment & Development Company
