Duties Description • Preparation of the Disability Benefits Fund quarterly and annual statements• Preparation of the Disability Benefits Fund and Aggregate Trust Fund audited statements• Monthly journal entries and reconciliations• Prepare and review assets in the Fixed Asset module• Maintaining departmental policies and procedures• Special projects as assigned

Minimum Qualifications For appointment via NY HELPs:- To Accountant or Auditor Trainee 1 (SG-14): A bachelor's degree in accounting, auditing, or taxation or a bachelor's degree with 24 semester credit hours in accounting, auditing, or taxation courses.- To Senior Accountant or Auditor 1 (SG-18)*: A bachelor's degree in accounting, auditing, or taxation or a bachelor's degree with 24 semester credit hours in accounting, auditing, or taxation courses and two years of professional experience in accounting/auditing or financial internal or field auditing, where you were responsible for the full range of activities in the design and/or review, analysis and management of accounting systems, resulting in the preparation of, or recommendations on, financial statements in accord with generally accepted accounting principles.*Substitutions: A master's degree in accounting, auditing, or taxation and one year of professional experience in accounting/auditing or financial internal or field auditing, where you were responsible for the full range of activities in the design and/or review, analysis and management of accounting systems, resulting in the preparation of, or recommendations on, financial statements in accord with generally accepted accounting principles or a currently valid Certified Public Accountant license and registration issued by New York State.For competitive appointment:• Transfer: Current New York State employee with one year of permanent competitive class service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of Civil Service Law. Appointments via transfer must not result in a second, consecutive transfer with an advancement of more than two S-grades.
