Lead Software Engineer, Network Infrastructure

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• Formal education, training, or certification in software engineering concepts, with at least five years of applied experience
• Demonstrated experience in network infrastructure development and networking engineering
• Practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
• Strong software development skills in Python, Go, JavaScript, Rust, and shell scripting for network automation and infrastructure management; experience leading development projects with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment
• Deep knowledge of datacenter networking protocols and technologies, including BGP, VRF, MPLS, IP, TCP, and UDP
• Hands-on experience with cloud networking architectures, including VPC, CNI, and hybrid-cloud connectivity, and VMware NSX-T software-defined networking, including logical switching, routing, load balancing, distributed firewalls, micro-segmentation, and overlay and underlay configuration
• Experience with Jenkins CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes and containerized network functions, network automation frameworks, and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Ansible and Terraform
• Experience leading the use of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development tools for coding, reviews, testing, or troubleshooting, and establishing practices to validate AI-generated outputs for correctness, performance, and security
• Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and security and resiliency requirements; experience coaching engineers on safe, compliant use
• Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, including decomposing complex infrastructure challenges, performing root-cause analysis across distributed systems, debugging and optimizing network components and automation software, and anticipating the wider effects of changes
• Preferred: Experience with network visibility and analytics tools and virtualization platforms such as Cisco ACI, Calico, OVN, and Cilium
• Preferred: Knowledge of policy-as-code frameworks, network security automation, and zero-trust architecture
• Preferred: Industry-recognized networking certifications, such as AWS Certified Advanced Networking – Specialty, Azure Network Engineer Associate, or Google Cloud Professional Cloud Network Engineer
• Preferred: Experience using AI-powered development tools and specification-driven development methods, including platforms such as Claude Code or GitHub Copilot, to improve network automation development and code quality

• Lead development, implementation, and delivery of software-defined networking solutions for software-defined datacenters, meeting timelines, technical requirements, and performance standards across resilient, scalable infrastructure
• Design and build network automation solutions and infrastructure management platforms using Python, Go, JavaScript, and modern web technologies to reduce manual work and improve operational efficiency
• Architect and deploy SDN and network orchestration solutions across AWS, Azure, GCP, and private-cloud environments, integrating monitoring with existing tools to support reliability
• Develop and maintain automation frameworks, APIs, and tools that connect network devices, controllers, and monitoring systems; produce clean, maintainable infrastructure-as-code
• Promote enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes; establish validation practices such as secure coding, peer review, and automated testing, and encourage reuse of effective approaches
• Use software development lifecycle tools, including authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to increase the value of automation
• Guide decisions affecting product design, application functionality, technical operations, and processes
• Work with network architects, security teams, product owners, and infrastructure engineers in an Agile Scrum environment; review code and troubleshoot network applications to meet performance and reliability needs
• Mentor junior engineers in network automation and infrastructure-as-code, and shape technical direction by assessing emerging SDN technologies, AI-enabled automation, and DevOps practices
