Collaborate with project managers and accounting teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with contract requirements. Manage subcontractor billing processes, including AIA G702/G703 payment applications, retainage, and change orders. Ensure timely and accurate reconciliation of project financial records, identifying and resolving discrepancies proactively. Maintain detailed project cost reports, commitment logs, and billing records to support financial transparency. Administer owner and subcontractor change orders, ensuring approved changes are reflected in financial records. Utilize advanced construction accounting systems and tools to streamline financial operations and reporting. Work in a collaborative environment, engaging with estimating and field construction teams to achieve project goals.Project Accountant Key Responsibilities & Duties Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and job costing. Monitor project costs, billings, commitments, and change orders, ensuring financial accuracy and compliance. Prepare and reconcile monthly owner requisitions and subcontractor payment applications. Track and administer change orders, ensuring accurate reflection in project financial records. Maintain detailed cost reports, commitment logs, and billing documentation for transparency. Identify and communicate potential financial risks and discrepancies to project leadership. Reconcile contract values, approved changes, commitments, and billings to ensure accuracy. Collaborate across departments to support financial and operational objectives.Project Accountant Job Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required. Minimum of 6 years of experience in construction accounting or project financial management. Proven expertise in managing large-scale commercial construction projects valued at $100 million or more. Proficiency in construction accounting systems like CMiC, ProContractor, or Procore preferred. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables and financial modeling. Strong knowledge of construction job cost accounting and compliance documentation. Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work collaboratively across departments and field teams.
