Front Desk Student Assistant

Position Summary Temporary hourly‑intermittent student assistant position(s) available in the Learning Commons. Start Date Position available on or after August 17, 2026, and ending on May 31, 2026, with the possibility of reappointment based on budget, department needs, and job performance. Job Description/Duties The Learning Commons is the campus resource for learning support. They offer peer‑led learning support for a variety of courses through Supplemental Instruction, Tutoring, and Writing Centers along with resources, strategies, and workshops to help students reach their academic goals. Please visit the Learning Commons website for more information about the center: . Duties include but are not limited to: Greets guests and routes them to the appropriate department or staff. Assists with filing and tracking using paper and electronic systems. Runs errands to other buildings and departments. Performs data entry tasks. Answers phones, emails, and routes inquiries to the appropriate staff in a professional manner. Refers students to other campus and community resources. Assists with logistics for meetings, outreach, and events. Assists with development of marketing materials and social media connections. Communicates and works with teams to complete projects. Assists students in scheduling appointments and responding to inquiries using the learning center management platform, StanTutor. Monitors and assists with any questions asked. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Preferred Qualifications Demonstrates ability to welcome and connect students with services and staff. Demonstrates ability to work on a team. Demonstrates ability to work 10–20 hours per week. Demonstrates ability to follow directions. Demonstrates ability to work with a diverse population. Demonstrates working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs. Demonstrates ability to market, promote, and encourage use of services. Can work remotely from home and has reliable internet (if needed). Required Qualifications Undergraduate students must be registered or enrolled in a minimum of six (6) Fall/Spring units. Post‑baccalaureate students in a graduate program must be registered in a minimum of four (4) Fall/Spring units. Student coordinator appointments are based on experience in the position, generally a year or more of work experience in the front desk position. Salary Range $16.90 - $18.50 per hour.
