Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Embark on a rewarding contract opportunity as a Special Education Teacher supporting elementary students in a self-contained autism classroom. Located near Palatine, IL, this position runs from August 17 through May 26, 2027, offering meaningful engagement throughout the academic year. In this role, you’ll work with a dedicated team of paraprofessionals and related service staff to create an inclusive, supportive learning environment for students in grades K-5.

Key Qualifications and Experience:

• Valid Illinois PEL with LBS1 endorsement required
• Experience teaching or supporting students with autism in self-contained classrooms highly preferred
• Ability to collaborate effectively with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and families
• Strong classroom management and individualized instruction skills
• Dedication to fostering student growth and inclusion
• Excellent communication and organization

Role Responsibilities:

• Directly educate and manage a classroom of eight K-5 students with autism
• Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) with input from support staff and families
• Supervise and collaborate with three paraprofessionals assigned to the classroom
• Coordinate with related service providers to ensure comprehensive support is delivered to all students
• Maintain accurate student records, progress reporting, and documentation in compliance with state and district guidelines
• Participate in required training and onboarding processes, including fingerprinting and any district-specific protocols

Position Details:

• Full-time, 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday (8:45 AM - 4:05 PM), with a 30-minute unpaid lunch
• Assigned to Valley View Elementary serving K-5 students
