Remote Medical Call Center Rep

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Remote Medical Call Center Rep for a contract opportunity supporting patient billing, insurance, payment, and account service needs. This role is ideal for a healthcare customer service professional with medical call center experience, revenue cycle knowledge, and confidence navigating patient financial questions in a fast-paced environment.

This remote position offers a consistent weekday schedule and the opportunity to support patients with professionalism, accuracy, and empathy. Success in this position requires strong communication, attention to detail, and the ability to resolve patient account questions efficiently while maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Handle 60 or more patient accounts daily through inbound calls, callbacks, occasional outbound calls, voicemail follow-up, and email responses.
• Assist patients with billing questions, account balances, insurance concerns, payments, payment plans, refunds, and account corrections.
• Review, verify, and document patient account information, including demographics, insurance details, billing updates, and financial assistance screening.
• Identify credit balances, coding concerns, insurance billing errors, and payment issues requiring correction or escalation.
• Maintain first-call resolution goals, quality standards, productivity expectations, and an average call-handling time of approximately seven minutes.
• Follow HIPAA, FDCPA, FCRA, collections laws, and company policies when handling patient and financial information.

Compensation and Benefits

• Pay: $18.00 per hour.
• Job Type: Contract/Temporary.
• Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM PST.
• Work Location: Remote.
• Candidates must provide their own computer, one additional monitor, webcam, wired headset, hardwired internet connection, and private workspace.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Support patient billing, payment, insurance, and account inquiries in a medical call center setting.
• Process account updates, billing corrections, refunds, payment transfers, and payment arrangements.
• Review patient accounts for accuracy, documentation, insurance issues, and possible financial assistance needs.
• Maintain call center productivity, quality, compliance, and service standards.
• Minimum of 2 years of medical experience required.
• Medical call center experience required.
• Revenue cycle experience and knowledge of Epic or similar medical software required.
• Strong understanding of HMO, PPO, coinsurance, insurance billing, and patient financial services.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to type at least 40 words per minute.
• Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with professional telephone etiquette.
• Excellent attention to detail, organization, follow-up, and multitasking ability.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced call center environment and remain seated at a workstation for extended periods.
• Must have reliable hardwired internet, with Wi‑Fi not accepted.
• Internet speed must be at least 100 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload.
• Must provide a computer, one additional monitor for a dual-monitor setup, webcam, wired headset that plugs directly into the computer, and a private, quiet workspace.
• Wireless headsets are not accepted.
• Must successfully pass a criminal history screening.
• Candidates should be prepared to complete an internet speed test on the computer they will use for work and provide screenshots showing download and upload speeds.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of medical terminology, medical coding, hospital operations, and healthcare financial services.
• Experience identifying coding issues, insurance billing errors, and credit balance concerns.
• Prior experience supporting patients in a healthcare billing, collections, or revenue cycle environment.
