As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor at Valence Counseling Services, your role will encompass a variety of essential tasks aimed at fostering mental wellness in our clients:

• Conduct comprehensive initial mental health evaluations and offer ongoing therapy sessions, which may include individual, couples, or group therapy formats.

• Develop personalized, client-centered treatment plans that align with accurate clinical assessments, tailoring approaches to meet individual client needs.

• Engage with interdisciplinary teams, collaborating closely with psychiatrists, social workers, and other mental health professionals to provide a holistic approach to care.

• Ensure that all client interactions and therapy sessions are meticulously documented in accordance with clinic policies and state regulations, maintaining a high standard of clinical practice.

• Participate actively in ongoing clinical supervision and team meetings to enhance your clinical skills and contribute to the collective learning of the team.

• Uphold ethical guidelines and state licensure standards, ensuring best practices in all interactions.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

Your work will primarily focus on serving a diverse clientele, including children, adolescents, adults, and families coping with various challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, and behavioral concerns. A special emphasis is placed on creating a welcoming environment for marginalized communities, including LGBTQIA+ individuals, ensuring that every client feels supported and understood.

Qualifications\n

The ideal candidate for this role will possess the following qualifications:

• Current and valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) license in the State of New York is required.

• A Master’s degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, or a related mental health discipline.

• A minimum of 2 years of post-licensure clinical experience is essential, with a preference for candidates with outpatient or private practice backgrounds.

• Familiarity with evidence-based treatment modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and trauma-informed care approaches.

• Exemplary communication skills and proficiency in clinical documentation.

• A compassionate approach to patient care, partnership, and collaboration.
\n
• Cultural competency and sensitivity when working with diverse populations, particularly LGBTQIA+ and marginalized communities.

Preferred Experience\n

Experience working with specific populations or conditions, as well as advanced training in preferred therapeutic modalities, will be advantageous. Compensation and Benefits\n

Valence Counseling Services offers competitive compensation ranging from $80,000 to $90,000 per year, commensurate with experience, in addition to a comprehensive benefits package. Eligible employees will receive:
