Job Description University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Assistant/Associate Professor Surgery-Acute Care Trauma, UNLV School of Medicine [R0139573] Role of the Position The Kirk Kerkonian School of Medicine at UNLV Department of Surgery is recruiting for an Acute Care, Trauma Surgeon, at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. The Acute Care Surgeon is responsible for trauma, surgical critical care, burns, and emergency general surgery. Duties include active clinical participation on the surgical University Medical Center (UMC) team and call schedule, student and resident teaching, and research, all within the global mission of developing and expanding the program in its clinical and academic spheres. The candidate will participate in the education of medical students, surgical residents and fellows, and pursue scholarly activities. They will demonstrate practical interpersonal and communication skills, be committed to ongoing performance improvement, and enhance a diverse workforce and academic environment. They must collaborate effectively with other clinicians and demonstrate clinical competence and teaching and research ability. The position includes teaching and research opportunities in surgical simulation and skills training in the 33,000 sq. ft. Clinical Simulation Center of Las Vegas, and participation in national meetings related to trauma surgery is encouraged and supported. Minimum Qualifications MD or DO degree from a regionally accredited college or university. Board Certified in Surgery prior to start date. Eligible for an unrestricted Nevada medical license. Malpractice insurance and requisite credentials by affiliated teaching hospitals, obtained before employment.
