A confidential California-based defense firm is seeking a Workers’ Compensation Defense Attorney to manage a busy caseload and appear at hearings as needed. This is a strong fit for an associate who enjoys ownership of files, regular advocacy work, and the flexibility to work fully remote while remaining local to the assigned venue.

THE ROLE

• Manage approximately 80 to 85 workers’ compensation defense matters from intake through resolution

• Prepare and argue at workers’ compensation hearings, including required in-person appearances

• Handle core litigation tasks: evaluations, discovery, medical and wage issues analysis, and settlement strategy

• Draft pleadings and motions, prepare case status reports, and maintain organized file management

• Communicate with clients and other stakeholders regarding exposure, strategy, and resolution options

Southern California (Greater Los Angeles area)

Schedule:

Fully remote, with hybrid or in-office options available

Compensation:

Base salary: $225,000

REQUIREMENTS

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school

• Active California Bar license

• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience (workers’ compensation defense preferred)

• Residence within the geographic region of the assigned caseload to attend in-person hearings as required

• Ability to manage a high-volume caseload efficiently and independently

• Strong legal writing, issue-spotting, and advocacy skills

PREFERRED BACKGROUND

• Certified Workers’ Compensation Specialist (required for partner track)

• Experience handling municipal or state fund defense matters

• A portable book of business (compensated accordingly)
