Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Medical-Surgical/Orthopedics Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hours Days Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year License: Required Certifications: BLS (AHA) Must-Have: Good communication skills Accurate documentation Timeliness Patient-centered care Description: This position requires passing a skills exam during orientation. The exam is open book and provides all necessary resources to succeed. A minimum score of 90% is required to pass; failure to achieve this will result in termination. Artificial nails are prohibited in all departments providing patient care. Refusal to comply will result in termination of the contract. A valid driver's license is necessary for eligibility verification. This unit serves a mixed patient population of medical/surgical cases with a focus on post-operative interventions. Common diagnoses include post-operative care following surgical procedures. The nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:5. Nurses are required to titrate specific medications. Monitoring equipment is available and includes capabilities for central monitoring. Registered nurses are expected to recognize and respond to changes. Weekend shifts are required approximately every third weekend. Holiday shifts will be rotated among staff members. Floating to other medical/surgical units is rare but may occur as necessary. Unit-specific orientation will be provided. The charting system utilized is EPIC.
