Agency Adult Correction Division COO - OPS - Institutions Operations Job Classification Title Administrative Associate II (S) Position Number 60056904 Grade NC02 About Us The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Other divisions include Administration, Health Services, Rehabilitation & Reentry, Special Operations and the Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission. We have a mission that matters! Description of Work This position is located at the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction Western Region Office in Valdese, NC (Burke County). Reporting to the Administrative Officer I, this position is responsible for switchboard operations and providing clerical support within the Western Region Office. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: • Serve as the first point of contact for visitors, staff, and the public by providing professional customer service in person and through switchboard operations. • Perform a variety of administrative support duties, including typing, correspondence, recordkeeping, filing, database management, and document preparation. • Schedule appointments, answer inquiries, and distribute information to staff, other Department of Adult Correction facilities, partner agencies, vendors, and the public. • Maintain office operations by processing usage orders, managing inventories, reconciling P-Cards, and supporting site security functions. • Operate and maintain office equipment while ensuring accurate and timely completion of administrative tasks. • Maintain confidential records and information in accordance with Department policies and procedures. • Collaborate with office support and administrative staff to ensure efficient daily operations and provide assistance with special projects and other duties as assigned. Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences Salary Grade Range: $31,200.00 - $51,249.00 Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement. About The Division of Institutions: The Division of Institutions manages the daily operations of all state-operated prison facilities across North Carolina. Facilities are categorized by custody levels (minimum, medium, close) and house individuals serving sentences for felony convictions. The division provides safety, security, and rehabilitative services through trained custody staff, program facilitators, and administrative personnel.
