Under limited to broad supervision, the Licensing Specialist monitors, processes, and manages the submission of Emergency Medical Service (EMS) license applications. Provides support, customer service and license processing to EMS applicants within the state.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Processes and issues EMS license applications according to Department guidelines.
• Receives and reviews criminal background reports.
• Prepare and process out of state verification and applicable forms.
• Verify immigration status and U.S. citizenship for EMS applicants.
• Maintain Department compliance with GBI/FBI for criminal background checks
• Provide customer service and support to EMS applicants.
• Provide records for open record requests.
• Assist with ensuring regulatory compliance in the overall operations, monitoring and evaluation of EMS agencies and medics for adherence to DPH rules and regulations, EMS Procedures, and guidelines.
• Successfully completes any and all department required training and any and all training required for the handling and security of criminal background information.
• Prepare any and all required reports requested.
• Develop any and all ad-hoc reports, as necessary.
• Assists Department with manuals, policies, procedures and licensing applications for EMS licensees.
• Understands and ensures privacy law and standards.
• Assist with updates, scheduling and monitoring of Department communication platforms.
• Assists in the state's emergency preparedness and response to natural and manmade disasters and public health emergencies.
• All other duties, as assigned.

Skills:

• Ability to work with limited supervision.
• Working knowledge of computer applications for licensing.
• Working knowledge of the general principles and practices of state licensing.
• Working knowledge of EMS System in Georgia
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of Georgia's EMS systems
• Knowledge of EMS Rules and Regulations
• Experience and knowledge in healthcare licensing
• Experience and knowledge in licensing software and computer software applications

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and three (3) years of experience performing work related to area of assignment; or seven (7) years of experience performing work related to area of assignment; or one (1) year of experience at the lower-level Healthcare Prgm Consultant 1 (HCP090) or position equivalent. Note: Some positions may require licensure.
