Job Description
Take the next step in your special education career by supporting students in an engaging elementary school environment. A full-time contract opportunity is now available for a dedicated Special Education Teacher to make an impact in an onsite role throughout the school year. This position operates Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 4:00pm, totaling 35 hours per week, with the assignment running through June 10, 2027.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Current and valid special education certification or licensure for the required caseload
- Bachelor’s degree; for candidates needing an emergency teaching permit, a degree is mandatory
- Completion of all Pennsylvania educational clearances before beginning
- Prior experience in school settings, with preference for work in urban environments
- Demonstrated ability in classroom and behavioral management
- Proficiency in subject matter, instructional best practices, and state/district-aligned lesson planning
- Strong differentiation skills driven by formative assessment
- Reliable transportation for consistent onsite attendance
- Flexible and comfortable adapting to the school and district culture
- Availability to work onsite within the specified hours; schedule cannot be accommodated or adjusted
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement effective lesson plans tailored to diverse learning needs and aligned with state and district standards
- Create a supportive, structured classroom climate that encourages both personal and academic growth
- Employ strong behavioral management to foster a positive learning atmosphere
- Adapt instruction based on ongoing assessment data
- Collaborate with school staff and parents to ensure the success of every student
