Key Responsibilities

As an Outpatient Orthopedic Physical Therapist, you will:

• Conduct comprehensive evaluations to assess patients' functional abilities and limitations, reviewing pertinent medical history and utilizing standardized assessment tools effectively.
• Collaborate with patients and their families to develop personalized treatment plans, ensuring they understand the evaluation results and actively participate in goal-setting for their recovery.
• Implement evidence-based treatment protocols, modifying strategies as needed based on ongoing assessment and patient progress within the context of evolving healthcare practices.
• Maintain clear communication with interdisciplinary healthcare teams, recognizing and documenting any changes in patients' conditions that necessitate adjustments in their care plan.
• Oversee discharge planning, coordinating follow-up care to support patients' continuity of treatment and recovery trajectory after leaving the clinic.
• Document all patient encounters meticulously, capturing essential information that chronicles each patient's journey, optimizing care quality while adhering to regulatory standards.
• Demonstrate effective time management and meet departmental productivity expectations, attending team meetings and participating in community outreach efforts to broaden access to care.
• Engage in continuous professional development initiatives and serve as a mentor or clinical instructor to students and new staff members.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Your role will primarily focus on orthopedic patients requiring rehabilitation following surgeries, injuries, or chronic conditions. You will work with a diverse population, including athletes and older adults, who seek to improve their physical function, manage pain, and enhance their daily living activities through personalized treatment plans.

Qualifications

To succeed in this role, candidates must possess:

• A Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy (Doctorate preferred).
• A valid state license to practice physical therapy in Virginia.
• CPR certification from the American Heart Association (Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers).
