Community Engagement Editor

San Antonio Report (SAR), a primary digital news brand of Texas Public Radio (TPR), is seeking a strategic, collaborative and detail-oriented Community Engagement Editor to help strengthen our content strategy and deepen connections between our newsroom and the community we serve. Based in San Antonio, this role will edit and produce high-quality newsletters, commentary and other digital content while helping identify new opportunities to engage audiences and bring more community voices into our journalism. You’ll review and edit commentary from non-staff writers, work directly with contributors to develop their ideas into clear and compelling pieces, and identify potential contributors and conversations through story comments, social media and other community channels. You’ll also write and edit headlines, summaries and photo cutlines, coordinate visual needs, and ensure content meets our standards for style, accuracy and digital best practices. We’re looking for a strong writer and editor with excellent editorial judgment, an eye for what will resonate with audiences and the interpersonal skills to work effectively with contributors of varying levels of experience. You should be highly organized, comfortable with AP Style and SEO best practices, able to make thoughtful decisions on deadline, and eager to learn new tools and technology. This is an entry-level opportunity for someone with college experience or at least one year of experience gathering or producing news and information online.
