Senior Financial Analyst – Accounting Policy

Company is a financial holding company with approximately $50 billion assets under management and traded on the NASDAQ. Built on the "HAVE IT ALL" model, Company offers sophisticated technology and resources of a large bank while focusing on providing service-based community banking to each and every customer. Company operates fifteen community bank subsidiaries with over 170 banking locations in the greater Chicago and southern Wisconsin market areas. Additionally, Company operates various non-bank business units including commercial and life insurance premium financing, short-term accounts receivable financing, out-sourced administrative services, mortgage origination and purchase, wealth management services and qualified intermediary services for tax-deferred exchanges.

The Senior Financial Analyst – Accounting Policy will take part in technical accounting research, interpretation and implementation of new and existing U.S. GAAP accounting pronouncements.

The Senior Financial Analyst will be a dedicated resource to serve as a technical accounting expert to individuals across the organization, and will assist in responding to inquiries related to new transactions, corporate initiatives, new products, and application of accounting standards. The position will participate in the research of complex technical accounting issues and development of recommendations in accordance with the organization’s accounting policies and practices, as well as authoritative accounting standards. Additionally, the Senior Financial Analyst will assist with monitoring accounting policy compliance throughout the organization, and evaluation and documentation of accounting policy exceptions.

What You Will Be Doing

• Communicate directly with Senior Management regarding significant accounting standard developments, conclusions reached and potential impact to the Company’s businesses.
• Perform research to interpret and provide subject matter expertise on technical accounting matters and accounting estimates to ensure conformity with Company policies and generally accepted accounting principles.
• Develop and prepare periodic analytical and monitoring assessments to ensure compliance with accounting policies and guidelines.
• Support the Corporate Controller’s Group in establishing and maintaining Company accounting and financial reporting policies and procedures.
• Perform technical accounting analysis and resolution of complex accounting transactions related to potential transactions such as acquisitions, investments, derivatives and hedging.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting required.
• Recent experience in public accounting or technical accounting research preferred.
• Understanding of processes and accounting related to banking/financial services preferred.
• Understanding of accounting and financial reporting of derivative instruments.
• Evaluation and analysis of emerging accounting and reporting standards from the FASB, EITF, SEC and other regulators.
• CPA preferred.

This position reports to the Assistant Vice President-Accounting Policy and will interact and work directly with the Senior Vice President-Reporting as well as the Chief Accounting Officer/ Controller.
