About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Hours (19:00 - 07:30) Experience: Minimum 1 year required; preference for 2 years in Med/Surg License: Valid Michigan RN License (pending license acceptable; must provide ETA) Certifications: BLS (AHA), NIHSS (pending acceptance) Must-Have: Must be willing to float to other Med/Surg units Must be available for the first two weeks of orientation Must be willing to work with a variety of staff (RNs, LPNs, Techs, etc.) Must be flexible with time off requests during holidays Description: Holiday coverage is required. Any request for time off during holidays must remain flexible to accommodate staffing demands. 36 or 48 hour work weeks available. Floating to other Med/Surg units will be required. Work every other weekend. Staffing ratio on nights is 1:5-6. Ratios may flex to 8 patients with RN paired with LPN for support in those instances. A variety of staff works on this unit and other Med/Surg units. Floating typically happens to other units approximately once per week. The unit cares for a diverse range of patients with general medical diagnoses. Specialties include gastrointestinal, urological, and gynecological surgeries. The unit may also see ortho/neurovascular and cardio/pulmonary patients. Staffing may include interdisciplinary support from various teams. Patient age groups include adults and geriatrics. Daily patient census is approximately 30. Total number of beds is 30. Skills required include but are not limited to: Accessing and managing ports, BiPAP/CPAP management, Blood product administration, Central line blood draw, Chest tubes management, Colostomy/Ileostomy management, Continuous Bladder Irrigation, Interpreting Arterial Blood Gases, Isolation precautions, Starting and maintaining IVs, Wound care management, Telemetry monitoring, and Tracheostomy care. References required must be from supervisor level. This position involves working with a variety of patient diagnoses and conditions.
