Staff Accountant

LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a growing professional services organization in San Diego to identify a Staff Accountant. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys working in a collaborative, project-driven environment and wants broad exposure across the accounting function. Reporting directly to the Controller, the Staff Accountant will play a key role in supporting day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, project accounting, and month-end close activities. The ideal candidate will be hands‑on, detail-oriented, and comfortable partnering with leaders and employees across multiple departments. Responsibilities Prepare journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations Assist with month-end and year-end close activities Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions Assist with payroll processing and related reconciliations Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation Perform budget-to-actual analysis and financial reporting Support project accounting and job costing activities Collaborate with project managers and operational teams to ensure accurate project financial tracking Assist with process improvement and accounting system enhancement initiatives Provide ad hoc reporting and analysis as needed Qualifications 3+ years of accounting experience Some Education preferred, but open to experience Experience with project-based accounting, job costing, project financial tracking or relatable experience within a similar space Experience with month-end close, journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment Preferred Experience within a professional services environment Background in construction, engineering, architecture, design services, consulting, or other project-based organizations Exposure to payroll systems and expense management tools Experience supporting technology implementations or process improvement initiatives Paid Tim Off and Holiday Pay Alternative workweek schedule available Hybrid flexibility after initial onboarding period Stable and supportive leadership team Opportunity for growth and increased responsibility Exposure to the full accounting cycle and business operations Why Consider This Opportunity?
