Work Environment

The position is based onsite at our assisted living facility in Germantown, Maryland, an area known for its community-oriented atmosphere and convenient access to urban amenities. You will be working in a collaborative team setting alongside 5 medical doctors and 5 fellow nurse practitioners, fostering a culture of teamwork and continuous learning. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive physical examinations of residents and evaluate their medical histories.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including blood tests and imaging studies, to aid in accurate diagnoses.
• Diagnose a variety of health conditions and illnesses, from chronic diseases to acute infections.
• Develop and propose individualized treatment plans, monitoring residents’ health status over time.
• Prescribe medications and manage ongoing treatments for patients, ensuring adherence to best practices and safety standards.
• Maintain meticulous records of patient interactions, healthcare plans, and progress notes in our electronic health record system.
• Provide patients and their families with detailed information regarding health conditions, treatment options, and preventive care methodologies.
• Educate residents and families about disease prevention and health maintenance, promoting lifestyle modifications as needed.
• Advance personal knowledge through professional development opportunities, research, and peer collaboration.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Our primary focus is on serving the elderly population within our assisted living facility, addressing the unique health challenges that can accompany aging. You will be required to understand the complexities of geriatric care, including the management of chronic conditions, coordination of palliative care, and promoting quality of life.

Qualifications

• A valid Nurse Practitioner license in Maryland is a must, with certifications as either an Adult Nurse Practitioner (ANP) or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP).
• A Master’s degree in Nursing is required.
• A minimum of 2 years of clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner in settings such as primary care, urgent care, or an emergency department.
• A current DEA number is mandatory for prescribing controlled medications.
• Excellent communication skills, strong ethical standards, and a team-oriented mindset are essential.
• Patience, problem-solving abilities, and the aptitude to thrive in a collaborative environment are critical for success in this role.

Preferred Experience

• Experience working specifically within assisted living or similar geriatric settings is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in managing acute and chronic health conditions prevalent in elderly patients.
• Being bilingual is considered a plus, though not a requirement.

Compensation and Benefits
