IT Procurement Specialist

We have an exciting opportunity for atemporaryIT Procurement Specialist to join the JETSII contract. IT Procurement Specialist Responsibilities Responsible for purchasing materials, equipment, and supplies pricing from distributors and OEMs. The position requires a strong combination of strategic thinking and tactical day‑to‑day problem‑solving as well as a high proficiency with data, detail, and cross‑functional communication. Explore order quantities, and lead tie to optimize trade-offs between time and order fulfillment efficiency. Contacting suppliers to follow up on purchase orders, compare and analyze suppliers for price reasonableness and performance. Support special projects as required to obtain data and information needed to support decision making. Manage suppliers and internal stakeholders through the purchasing/fulfillment process. Provide budgeting, forecasting, and cost estimating support. Provide detailed financial reports, including budget planning and phasing for forecasted renewals and replacement costs. Prepare fiscal year and 5‑year financial views for multiple divisions to meet contractual requirements. Aide in annual IT Phasing Plan for the division; review IT purchase requests and issue IT plan numbers to track procurements in the IT Purchase Plan. Meet with Management weekly to disseminate EA, OCIO, Center, and Agency IT information as related to the division; request approval to procure IT hardware and software to meet division requirements. Work with the budget office to procure approved IT hardware, software, and annual maintenance agreements in accordance with Center and Agency policy (i.e. CITR, ESP, etc.). Manage software license maintenance agreements to ensure timely renewal and consolidate licenses where possible by reviewing license utilization logs annually. Requisition Qualifications Typically requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent certification in a related area and a minimum of 5 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain or Finance is preferred, but not required. Familiar with NASA/JSC procurement process and compliance requirements. Self‑motivated, team player, and adaptable to a dynamic environment and the ability to complete all assignments as required. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Familiar with Microsoft Office products. Experience organizing and prioritizing tasks in order to meet deadlines and schedules. Experience with preparing written documents and to verbally present at various meetings. Experience with effectively interacting with customers and management at all levels. Requisition Preferences NASA/JSC experience strongly preferred. Some college preferred. Familiar with JSC organizations, processes, and procedures. Why Join Our Team? Essential Functions Work Environment Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task. Physical Requirements Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time). Equipment and Machines Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.). Attendance Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
