Litigation Associate

About the Role:

As a Commercial Litigation Associate, you will play an active role in managing and supporting sophisticated litigation matters from early case development through discovery, motion practice, court proceedings and resolution.

You will work closely with experienced attorneys while taking on meaningful responsibility for legal research, drafting, discovery, depositions and court appearances. The position offers the opportunity to develop strong client-service and advocacy skills while gaining broad exposure to a diverse range of commercial and business disputes.

This is not a purely support-based role. The successful attorney will have the opportunity to become deeply involved in matters, develop increasing independence and take on greater responsibility as experience and performance grow.

Key Responsibilities:

• Handle and support a broad range of commercial and business litigation matters
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, memoranda and other litigation documents
• Conduct in-depth legal research and analyze complex legal and factual issues
• Participate in the development of litigation strategy and case preparation
• Manage discovery, including document review, production and discovery-related matters
• Conduct and defend depositions
• Prepare witnesses, exhibits and supporting materials for hearings, depositions and other proceedings
• Attend and participate in court appearances and other legal proceedings
• Assist with matters involving alternative dispute resolution, including mediation and arbitration
• Work on disputes involving contracts, shareholder and partnership issues, intellectual property, employment, construction, real estate and other commercial matters
• Collaborate closely with attorneys and legal professionals to deliver strategic and responsive client service
• Develop increasing responsibility for managing assignments, deadlines and case-related priorities

Required Qualifications:

• J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school with strong academic credentials
• Admission and good standing with the New York State Bar
• 3+ years of litigation experience, preferably including commercial litigation
• Experience drafting pleadings, motions and other substantive litigation documents
• Strong legal research and analytical capabilities
• Experience attending court appearances and participating in litigation proceedings
• Experience conducting and defending depositions
• Law Review or Moot Court experience preferred
• Excellent legal writing, research and communication skills
• Strong attention to detail and sound professional judgment
• Ability to manage multiple assignments and competing deadlines effectively
• Motivated, proactive and intellectually curious approach to legal practice
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative team environment
