Legal Billing Specialist - Washington, DC

Job Summary
Beacon Hill has partnered with a client in the Washington, DC area seeking a Legal Billing Coordinator to join its Accounting team. This position will support the billing function for a portfolio of attorneys and clients, helping to ensure invoices are prepared accurately, submitted on time, and compliant with client requirements. We are open to candidates with a variety of legal billing backgrounds, including billing, e-billing, revenue, collections, and law firm accounting experience. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, customer-focused, and thrives in a collaborative, deadline-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and process attorney bills and client invoices
• Assist with the full billing cycle, including pre-bills, edits, invoice generation, and submission
• Maintain client billing guidelines, rates, fee arrangements, and matter information
• Submit invoices through e-billing platforms and help resolve billing rejections or discrepancies
• Partner with attorneys, legal assistants, and clients to ensure accurate and timely billing
• Respond to billing inquiries and provide excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders
• Assist with tracking accruals, write-offs, transfers, and billing adjustments
• Support accounts receivable and collections efforts as needed
• Generate billing reports and maintain billing records and documentation
• Contribute to process improvements and support special projects within the accounting department

Requirements

• Experience in legal billing, e-billing, law firm accounting, or a related billing/revenue role
• Experience working with legal billing software such as Aderant, Elite 3E, SurePoint, or similar systems preferred
• Familiarity with e-billing platforms and client billing guidelines
• Strong Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Professional demeanor with the ability to build relationships across all levels of an organization
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment
