Psychological Services Specialist, DOC - SCI Waymart

Overview As a Psychological Services Specialist, DOC at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) Waymart, you will support inmates toward emotional stability and improved behavior. This role focuses on counseling, testing, and coordinating mental health services to strengthen the well-being and safety of the institution. Responsibilities Counseling Support: Provide individual and group therapy addressing behavior, emotional needs, and treatment goals. Testing and Evaluation: Conduct interviews and administer standardized tests to understand abilities and mental health needs. Service Coordination: Collaborate with institutional departments and outside agencies to ensure delivery of mental health services. Documentation: Prepare reports, treatment plans, and behavior strategies based on assessments and observations. Crisis Assistance: Respond to urgent mental health concerns and support inmates in assessment housing areas. Committee Participation: Serve on institutional committees and contribute information related to inmate progress. Work Schedule and Information Full-time employment, 37.5-hour work week. Work hours: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM, Sunday – Thursday, with a 30-minute lunch. Salary: Starting annual salary of $67,736.00 (before taxes) for new Commonwealth of Pennsylvania employees; additional pay may be considered for licensure (Social Worker, Clinical Social Worker, or Professional Counselor) with documentation provided at interview. Telework: Not available for this position. Qualifications Minimum Experience and Training: Master’s degree in psychology or a closely related field with fifteen graduate-level credits in psychology or counseling. Other Requirements: Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA; meet PA residency requirements; able to perform essential job functions.
