Work Environment

This position is based onsite at a school facility in Ithaca, allowing for direct interaction with students, families, and local community members. The role requires in-person engagements that foster relationships between healthcare professionals and the community, essential for health promotion and education initiatives. Our typical work hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with some evening clinics until 8:00 p.m. and possible weekend events, creating a dynamic and flexible working environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough health assessments, including physical examinations and screenings for acute and chronic conditions among students and their families.
• Diagnose and manage a variety of health issues, offering preventive care, health promotion strategies, and individualized treatment plans.
• Collaborate with local organizations and stakeholders to create and implement impactful health education programs tailored to community needs.
• Deliver culturally competent care, advocating for patients' rights and ensuring equitable access to necessary healthcare services.
• Coordinate patient referrals and follow-up care, maintaining a continuity of services that ensures the best health outcomes for our patients.
• Maintain meticulous healthcare records using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, adhering to all regulatory requirements and organizational policies.
• Actively participate in community outreach initiatives and health fairs, providing health screenings and raising awareness about available services.
• Stay abreast of current community health trends, best practices, and policy changes that impact public health.

Patient Population / Client Focus

This role primarily focuses on the student population within school settings, alongside their families, addressing a variety of health concerns that affect children and adolescents. The successful Nurse Practitioner will engage with diverse populations, tailoring approaches to meet the unique cultural and socioeconomic needs of our community. This involves managing both preventative and immediate care needs and promoting healthy lifestyle choices.

Qualifications

• A Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited institution is required.
• Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (ANP), or Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGNP) from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).
• A current, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner (APRN) license in New York State is required.
• Valid DEA and NPI numbers are mandatory for this position.
• Strong clinical assessment skills and the ability to diagnose and manage health conditions effectively.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with a diverse range of patients and community members.
• Proficiency with electronic health record systems to maintain accurate patient data and records.

Preferred Experience

• A minimum of two years of clinical experience, particularly in primary care, family medicine, community health, or public health settings.
• Experience working with school-aged children and families in a healthcare setting is highly desirable.
• Strong abilities in team collaboration and independent work, demonstrating adaptability in various settings.

Compensation and Benefits

The Nurse Practitioner role at NextGen NP Solutions offers a competitive annual salary ranging from USD 150,000 to 160,000. In addition, candidates are eligible for a sign-on bonus of up to $10,000 to support your transition into our community.
