Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care for adult patients on a high-acuity surgical/trauma med-surg floor, including monitoring and responding to clinical changes.
- Assess patient status, interpret vital signs, identify early signs of deterioration, and respond to emergencies or code situations as needed.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments, manage IV lines, perform wound care, and monitor for adverse reactions; document interventions accurately.
- Collaborate with the ED and admitting teams to ensure smooth patient transitions, participate in nurse handoffs at shift change, and support discharge planning as appropriate.
- Document in EPIC EMR, maintain accurate and timely charting, and uphold safety, infection control, and quality standards.
- Coordinate with available support staff (phlebotomy, night unit secretary) to facilitate throughput, patient comfort, and timely care delivery.

Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Med Surg on a high-acuity surgical/trauma unit.
- BLS certification required; ACLS certification preferred.
- EPIC EMR experience required.
- No time-off requests (RTO) accepted during the assignment; must be willing to work the assigned shifts; no block scheduling.
- Ability to work night shifts and meet the physical and clinical demands of a fast-paced trauma-focused med-surg environment.
