About the Position: Incumbent will serve as the classification action officer for the G1 DCS for Personnel and Logistics, HQ, U.S. Army Transportation Command (ARTRANS) and provide a full range of civilian personnel advice for key managers, developing guidelines on programs that are often complex and controversial.

Duties

Help

• Develop position descriptions per OPM classification standards.
• Conduct evaluations through review of regular/recurring and special reports.
• Issue classification evaluation decisions.
• Provide guidance in the area of classification.
• Responsibility for adjudication of classification appeals for all ARTRANS employees.
• Participate in formal and informal discussions with operating officials.
• Conduct studies in areas identified for special analysis.

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
• This position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
• This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 15% of the time.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience : One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service which includes : (1) Applying OPM Classification Standards to accurately classify positions; (2) Managing and issuing classification evaluation decisions in compliance with established guidelines; (3) Analyzing position management and organizational structures to ensure efficiency and alignment with mission objectives; (4) Delivering training and providing oversight to classification staff and managers to maintain consistency and adherence to policies. This definition of specialized experience is typical work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12)

Time in Grade Requirement : Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent ( GS-12).
