The School of Renewable Natural Resources is hiring an Accountant 1 with a passion for compiling, analyzing and reporting on the financial performance of the school. Qualifications Three years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR Six years of full-time experience in any field plus twenty-four semester hours in accounting; OR A bachelor’s degree with twenty-four semester hours in accounting; OR A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, or statistics; OR An advanced degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, quantitative methods, or statistics; OR Possession of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license. EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field. Job Duties As an Accountant 1, you'll help create a positive first impression for every person who walks through our doors. In this role, you will: Responsible for reviewing monthly financial statements to determine proper charging of operating revenues and expenditures; prepare income statements by consolidating accounting data and interpret results; assist in preparing annual budgets and forecasts, manage year-end and account-end closing activities; Monitor individual faculty accounts and recommend corrective action if needed; perform in-house audits; report non-compliance or account changes to management; etc. (50%) Responsible for the production of complex accounting reports, manage budget projections for many accounts, and monitor and forecast expenditures for state funds and grant funds. (50%) Position-Specific Details Appointment Type: This position does not participate in a Career Progression Group. Work Schedule: Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday. Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
