Department Detail Distribution Services is located on the campus of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association headquarters and occupies approximately 15,000 sq.ft. in a fast‑paced production and mail handling environment serving all ministry areas of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. BGEA Distribution Services provides multifaceted printing, mailing and order fulfillment services. Responsibilities also include shipping and receiving of materials, controlling larger quantities of inventory while supporting multiple ministry platforms as they proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ…Always Good News. Job Summary The Mail Operations Specialist position performs a variety of operational, maintenance, training, and related mailing responsibilities in a high‑volume, diverse product mailing environment. Maintains focus and flexibility in a fast‑paced, rapidly changing work environment. Takes initiative in learning all aspects of processing a variety of mailings. Consistently uses this knowledge to uphold the highest standards of quality and productivity. Ministry Requirements Maintains a personal, active relationship with Jesus Christ and is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ Faithfully upholds BGEA in prayer Participates in daily BGEA staff devotions including Bible reading and leading group prayer as schedule permits Demonstrates behavior aligned with BGEA’s Mission Statement, Statement of Faith, Hallmarks, policies, and expectations Effectively represents Jesus Christ to those within both personal and professional spheres of influence Essential Duties and Responsibilities Demonstrates sustained initiative in seeking knowledge and training in the areas of equipment operation, mail preparation and departmental procedures Communicates essential information, work progress and concerns in a timely fashion to team members and management Utilizes extensive knowledge of USPS and Distribution Services procedures and is responsible for the proper preparation of assigned mailings As a team member, takes direction well and consistently assists fellow mailers in the completion of assignments Sorts and delivers inter‑office mail for the HQ, Library and Archive facility Prepares daily mail shipments for ministry field offices including Samaritans Purse, BRB, The Cove, Montreat and Canada Prepares parcel package shipments for UPS, Fed‑Ex, USPS and other mail services Makes creative, practical recommendations on how to improve the efficiency, effectiveness and quality of processing mailings Ability to quickly switch jobs while maintaining focus and attention to detail; able to remain calm while under pressure in order to meet deadlines Assists in the fulfillment of orders as assigned by Fulfillment & Inventory Supervisor Marginal Duties and Responsibilities Able to train team members in the basic operation of mail operations equipment Assembly and fulfilling orders for BGEA Ministry initiatives, Non‑IDs, FOL and Response Center kits as needed Other duties as assigned Job Specifications Skills and Knowledge Prior experience working in a production environment helpful Must have good interpersonal skills and be able to learn and follow lines of communication and authority Ability to use a PC and accompanying software, Excel and Word Ability to proficiently and accurately follow all Distribution Services and appropriate USPS procedures Must have high school diploma or GED Ability to safely operate mailing and fulfillment equipment Ability to safely operate industrial trucks and material handling equipment in close quarters Physical/Mental Demands Ability to lead coworkers as a member of a team Willingness and ability to initiate learning opportunities Ability to perform repetitive tasks Good hand and eye coordination Consistent, regular and punctual attendance Ability to work and make quick, quality decisions Ability to stand on feet eight to twelve hours a day Ability to lift up to shoulder height 70 lbs. occasionally and up to 40 lbs. frequently Working Conditions Working in a fast‑paced environment Working under pressure and stress Working closely with others as a team Working with equipment to process mail and orders Working overtime when necessary Benefits Summary Medical, prescription, dental and vision insurance Flexible Spending Account (FSA) Long term and short term disability insurance Term Life insurance 401(k) retirement savings plan 10 paid holidays, including 1 floating holiday Minimum 12 days of vacation 10 sick days Title VII Exception for Employment The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA) is a faith‑based religious organization committed to spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ through every effective means.
