Position Overview Cross Country Nurses is seeking a travel nurse RN Stepdown for a travel nursing job in Saint Louis, Missouri. Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Stepdown Discipline: RN Start Date: 08/10/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Job Summary This opportunity is for a Step Down Unit Registered Nurse (RN) located in Saint Louis, Missouri. The position involves providing advanced medical care to adult patients transitioning from intensive care. The role requires proficiency in managing ventilated patients, titrating vasoactive medications, and performing complex bedside procedures within a high‑acuity step‑down environment. Job Details Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, a minimum of 36 hours per week Required Qualifications: Certified in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS); must have at least 2 years of experience in a similar step‑down or ICU setting; experience with titration of vasopressors, sedation medications, insulin drips, trach vents, arterial lines, external pacemakers, and chest tubes is mandatory; recent bedside experience within the last 6 months is required; must possess a valid license in Missouri or be eligible to obtain one; must be willing to work every other weekend, with Saturday-Sunday or Friday-Saturday rotations. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with electronic charting systems, community hospital settings, and previous step-down experience. Special Procedures and Equipment: Proficiency in titration of vasopressors (Levophed, Nicardipine, etc.), management of arterial lines, and ventilator care with special equipment such as Bipap and OptiFlow is essential. Additional Information: The role involves managing patients with complex conditions including CVA, postoperative surgical patients, and those requiring continuous monitoring. Candidates must be able to troubleshoot ventilator alarms, manage cardiac arrhythmias, and perform routine bedside procedures. Open to travelers who meet the clinical proficiency criteria.
