Human Resources Specialist

Our client a well known University is seeking a Human Resources Specialist in their New York, New York Location!

Characteristic Duties And Responsibilities

Subject matter expert in all Health & Welfare Plans including active and retiree medical and dental plans, vision, prescription drug, spending accounts, life and disability insurance, the employee assistance program, wellbeing programs and voluntary benefits. Comprehensive knowledge of retirement plans and tuition programs. Supports the Health and Welfare team with implementations, administration and communication of benefits for active and retired benefit-eligible faculty and staff.

Provide front line customer service via telephone, email, message center and service now for the Benefits Service Center, two to three hours per day, per week. Respond accurately and timely to resolve questions and requests from employees and retirees.

Ensures benefit procedures and practices are consistently followed to ensure compliance. Supports and evaluates process flows, metrics reporting and trend analysis to ensure ongoing process improvement.

Completes comprehensive research to resolve escalated issues internally or in coordination with outside vendors. On-going projects include research related to active and retiree deaths, retirement facilitations, presentation at University and Medical Center New Hire Orientations and Open Enrollment support including Benefit Expos and Health Screenings.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and/or its equivalent. SHPR/PHR/CEBS/SHRM Certification Preferred

Minimum 3-5 years Benefits experience, or 5-7 HR Generalist experience

Strong verbal, written communications and comprehensive research skills

Strong customer service experience

Working knowledge of HRIS (PeopleSoft), Microsoft Office and relational databases
