Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work, active Social Worker license and minimum 1+ years School Social Work experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Make a meaningful difference in the lives of K-12 students as a School Social Worker during the 2026-2027 academic year. In this dynamic, onsite contract role, you'll engage with special education students across multiple settings, offering crucial intervention and counseling services designed to foster both personal and academic growth. Through your efforts, you’ll support not only students but also families and staff, helping create a nurturing and effective educational environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Identify, assess, and evaluate the social, emotional, and behavioral needs of special education students
• Develop and implement intervention plans and behavior management strategies
• Provide both one-on-one and group counseling for eligible students experiencing emotional or behavioral challenges
• Work collaboratively with educators, administrators, and community partners to facilitate student progress
• Consult and support teachers, participate in IEP meetings, and offer case management for students with complex needs
• Foster strong school-family connections, including conducting home visits when appropriate
• Identify and report any cases of abuse or neglect, and provide crisis intervention when required

Qualifications:

• Master’s degree (MSW) from an accredited college or university
• Valid LARA license
• Hold one of the following: Preliminary School Social Worker Certificate, Professional School Social Worker Certificate, or School Social Worker Permit
• MDE SW Approval
• Comfortable working 35 hours per week onsite during the school year (August 17th – June 11th)
• Willingness to provide official university transcripts
• Experience with special education and behavioral intervention strongly preferred
