Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work, active Social Worker license and minimum 1+ years School Social Work experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Make a meaningful difference in students’ lives as a School Social Worker, supporting K-12 learners by providing crucial intervention and counseling services. This contract opportunity runs from August 17, 2026, through June 11, 2027, and is based in the Flint area with potential exposure to communities like Grand Blanc, Lansing, and Detroit. With a 35-hour onsite workweek, you’ll collaborate with educators, families, and other professionals to help special education students thrive academically and socially.

Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited college or university
• Hold a fully licensed SW, or MSW Limited License
• Possess one of the following: Preliminary School Social Worker Certificate (PSSWC), Professional School Social Worker Certificate (PSWC), or School Social Worker Permit (SSWP)
• Active LARA license required
• Comfortable working onsite across K-12 caseloads
• Official university transcripts, LARA license, and MDE SW Approval must be provided before submission
• Experience with Special Education populations strongly preferred

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess and identify the social, emotional, and behavioral needs of special education students
• Develop and implement intervention and behavioral plans—individually, in groups, or in classrooms
• Provide counseling services to students, addressing a variety of emotional and behavioral challenges
• Consult with teachers and staff to integrate support strategies
• Participate in IEP meetings, student evaluations, and parent conferences
• Facilitate school-family collaborations, including home visits as needed
• Recognize and report child abuse or neglect; administer crisis intervention protocols
