Business Development Manager

Job Description Business Development Manager (0034329) – US-SC-Columbia (Hybrid) – ManpowerGroup What’s In It For You Competitive base salary Comprehensive benefits (Medical, Dental, Life, Vision, and Disability insurance) 401(k) with company match 20 days paid time off Gym membership discounts Pet insurance How You’ll Make an Impact The primary purpose of the Business Development Manager (BDM) is to spearhead the acquisition and management of high‑value deals, oversee multi‑location transactions, and expand the company's footprint across larger territories. This role is pivotal in identifying and securing strategic business opportunities, fostering long‑term partnerships, and driving revenue growth. Conduct thorough market research to identify potential clients and business opportunities within the Manpower brand portfolio (HC, Engineering, Perm, Skilled Tech, Onsite solutions, light industrial, etc.). Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to understand their staffing needs and provide tailored solutions, educating them on all services within ManpowerGroup offerings. Analyze market trends, competitor activity, and customer needs to inform strategic decisions on a solution‑sales model. Prepare and deliver compelling presentations and proposals, negotiate and close high‑value deals with various levels of clients (production managers to C‑suite). Adopt Manpower methodologies, disciplines and tools in pursuing profitable business opportunities, partnering with brand managers and leadership to craft improvements to processes. Collaborate with delivery leaders to plan and allocate resources effectively to meet client needs. Establish a feedback loop with delivery teams to continuously improve service offerings based on client feedback and market demands. Promote brand awareness by attending local networking events and job fairs. Exceed sales quotas and revenue targets through strategic sales approaches and proficient client management. Your Typical Day and Other Key Details Remote/Hybrid work environment. Maintain accurate records of sales activities, client interactions, and pipeline status. Prepare and present sales proposals and negotiate contract agreements. Conduct outbound cold calls to potential clients, effectively presenting and selling products/services. Conduct weekly reviews of industry trends and competitor activity. Attend internal meetings to discuss strategy, progress, and goals. Collaborate closely with recruitment teams to ensure client needs are met and orders are fulfilled. Follow up with existing clients to ensure satisfaction and explore additional business opportunities. Participate in industry events, conferences, and networking sessions to build relationships and stay updated on trends. Qualifications What you’ll bring with you: Sales experience: 2+ years selling in a solution‑based role, proven performance in a competitive high‑volume sale, with successful achievement of ambitious goals. Digital literacy: Desktop (e.g., MS Word, Outlook) and social (e.g., Twitter, LinkedIn) application proficiency. Education: High school diploma or GED.
