Billing Specialist

Overview Provide billing support for healthcare services, ensuring accurate insurance claims processing and patient account management. Evaluate patient financial status and establish budget payment plans as required. Verify insurance benefits and notify patients of their responsibilities. Scrub claims for accurate ICD-10 and CPT code charges against physician progress notes. Follow up on outstanding or denied claims, submitting corrections and appeals as needed. Post ERA payments and maintain organized financial records. Perform additional administrative tasks to support billing operations. Key Responsibilities & Duties Answer patient calls, resolving billing inquiries and providing financial guidance. Verify insurance benefits and obtain referrals for scheduled appointments. Scrub claims for accurate coding and prepare them for electronic billing. Follow up with insurance companies on outstanding claims and submit appeals. Post ERA payments and maintain detailed financial records. Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure accurate billing practices. Perform other duties as assigned to support the billing department. Job Requirements High School Diploma or GED required; additional certifications in medical billing preferred. 1-2 years of relevant experience in medical billing or insurance claims processing. Proficiency in ICD-10 and CPT coding standards. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
