Director of Finance

What makes this opportunity stand out: High-impact leadership position reporting directly to executive leadership Opportunity to rebuild and develop an accounting and finance team Broad ownership of accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, audits, grants, and cash management Mission-driven organization focused on serving the community Significant visibility with senior leadership and governing board Opportunity to improve processes, strengthen internal controls, and modernize financial operations Excellent long-term career stability with an outstanding benefits package Opportunity to make a measurable impact on the organization's long-term financial success Key responsibilities include: Lead all accounting and financial reporting activities Oversee general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, grants, and cash management Prepare financial statements and oversee annual audit activities Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning Develop and strengthen internal controls and accounting procedures Partner with executive leadership on strategic financial initiatives Supervise and mentor accounting and finance staff Present financial information to executive leadership and governing stakeholders Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements Drive process improvements across the finance organization Ideal background: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required CPA preferred but not required Five or more years of progressive accounting and finance leadership experience Experience within public sector, nonprofit, governmental, municipal, education, or similarly complex organizations strongly preferred Public accounting professionals with governmental or nonprofit audit experience are highly encouraged to apply Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, internal controls, and audit management Experience leading accounting teams and developing staff Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain financial information to non-financial stakeholders Experience with ERP/accounting systems Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities Looking for someone who enjoys building teams, improving processes, and leading through change #J-18808-Ljbffr
