Position Summary

The Training Coordinator will work closely with the Program Manager to plan, coordinate, and facilitate all aspects of our community-based trainings and workshops, and will support other administrative and programmatic activities.

Core Functional Responsibilities

• Training and Workshops – Organize/Responsible for all aspects of MCC’s 27-session Doula and Lactation Community Health Worker Training (DLCHW).
• Coordinate outreach and recruitment for DLCHW trainings to community members, partner organizations, and partner trainers.
• Assist with outreach and recruitment efforts to attract diverse, community-minded individuals for MCC’s Doula Lactation Community Health Worker (DLCHW) training across the Delaware Valley region.
• Set schedules for all pre-training Information Sessions and DLCHW training series.
• Organize logistics of trainings (virtual, hybrid, or in-person setting); location, childcare, and all training materials and supplies.
• Work with the Program Manager and team to integrate guest facilitators, plan training session agendas, and activities.
• Maintain detailed records of all training participants, guest trainers, and activities.
• Attend all training sessions as facilitator/co-facilitator.
• Support the development and implementation of an evaluation plan for the project.
• Support the Program Manager to implement a training replication model, including making revisions and updates to the Training Manual, Facilitator’s Guide, and Train the Trainer manual.
• Responsible for the development and implementation of ongoing Professional Development/Skills Building workshops for Community Doula and Lactation Peer Counselor Network.
• Support training graduates with the PCB (Perinatal Community-based) Doula Certification process.
• Provide coaching/mentoring to graduates as needed.
• Coordinate new doula orientation and training sessions for onboarding community doulas trained outside of MCC.
• Coordinate and track all new requests from graduating PCHWS and community doulas for clearances and other required documentation.

Supporting Responsibilities 

• Support Program Manager and team with various site/program specific activities and tasks as needed.
• Support Program Manager with funder reports as needed.
• Participate in team, site, and one-on-one supervision meetings as requested.
• Attend community meetings, health fairs, and events, and represent MCC as needed.
• Adheres to the MCC’s security guidelines and ensures the appropriate handling of sensitive information.
• Attends relevant staff meetings to promote communication and execution of goals.
• Completes special projects specific to the function of the department or as needed for the department as directed by the supervisor.
• Other duties as assigned within the scope of position expectations.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Understanding of MCC’s mission, goals, and objectives and ability to work independently with a high level of energy and contribute as part of a larger team.
• Knowledge of the concepts and practices associated with community health issues, particularly with pregnancy, prenatal care, parenting, and other services for parents, young children, and their families.
• Understanding of root causes of maternal and infant health disparities for communities of color and working knowledge of Reproductive and Racial Justice frameworks.
• Knowledge of and sensitivity to the issues facing the community served; knowledge of community resources.
• Demonstrated group facilitation and leadership skills.
• Excellent record-keeping and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple tasks and excellent time management
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent computer skills, including data entry and database management, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications, and experience using virtual collaboration platforms such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom.

Experience, Education, and Licensure

Experience: 

• One year of demonstrated experience teaching/facilitating group trainings and workshops, including on virtual meeting platforms.
• Trained as a Birth and Postpartum Doula or willing to receive training within 1 year of hire.
• Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC), International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), or willingness to attend a CLC training and pass the CLC exam within 1 year of hire.

Education: 

• Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Public Health, Human Resources, or a related field required; equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience may be considered.

• Maternity Care Coalition operates as a hybrid organization. The assigned work arrangement for this position may include a combination of remote and onsite work and will be determined based on operational needs, role responsibilities, and performance. Work arrangement expectations may be modified over time to meet organizational or programmatic requirements. Staff working remotely are responsible for maintaining a safe and appropriate workspace.
• Ability to engage in extended periods of sitting, computer work, and sustained concentration to complete financial analysis, reporting, and related tasks.
• Ability to occasionally bend, reach, lift, carry, push, or pull training materials or equipment, generally not exceeding 30 pounds.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the state of residence and the ability to successfully pass a motor vehicle record check, where driving is an essential function of the role.
• Ability to travel occasionally to attend conferences, seminars, and professional meetings.
• Ability to work non‑traditional hours on an occasional basis based on operational needs.
• Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of required post‑offer pre‑employment background clearances, as well as any additional post‑hire background, compliance, or programmatic clearances required by the organization, funders, or applicable regulations.
