Senior Director, Executive Development

Senior Director, Executive Development – Hybrid Locations: Towson, MD / New Britain, CT / Charlotte, NC. This role reports to the VP, Global Talent and partners with C‑suite and HR leadership. Key Responsibilities Design and lead the enterprise executive development strategy, aligned to business goals and leadership expectations. Build a multi‑year roadmap (program portfolio, experiences, measurement approach) and drive adoption through executive stakeholder management. Serve as a strategic partner to the CHRO, Executive Committee, and VP, Global Talent, summarizing talent initiatives and progress for board‑level review. Build and manage senior‑leader pipeline programs in partnership with Learning & Development, including architecture, selection, learning journeys, and success metrics. Coordinate delivery across internal partners and external vendors (faculty, assessment providers, coaching networks). Partner with the C‑suite and HR leaders to shape individualized development and succession actions for senior leaders. Provide executive coaching, facilitate individual development planning, and conduct executive‑level succession planning reviews. Own the executive assessment framework (standards, tool selection, vendor strategy, governance) and the executive coaching framework. Support COE strategy development and Board/Executive Committee messaging on executive development, pipeline health, and succession actions. Define and track outcomes (readiness movement, bench strength indicators, roadmap diversity, program effectiveness) and use insights for continuous improvement. Qualifications 10–15+ years of progressive experience in executive development, succession planning, leadership assessment, coaching strategy, and/or organizational development. Experience designing and delivering enterprise programs for senior leaders (VP/GM and above) in a Fortune 250 environment. Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in HR, Organizational Development, Business, or related field strongly preferred. Strong communication and influence skills; adept at designing innovative learning solutions and facilitating executive‑level programming. Proven ability to coach senior leaders and facilitate high‑impact learning experiences. Executive presence and consulting skillset with demonstrated influence over C‑suite stakeholders. Deep knowledge of executive assessment and coaching practices, vendor selection/management, and quality assurance. Strong analytical and data‑driven approach to program measurement and continuous improvement. Exceptional written communication skills; able to produce concise, high‑quality executive and board‑ready messaging. Ability to thrive in a matrixed, fast‑paced, collaborative environment. Preferred Qualifications Supporting board‑level talent discussions or preparing materials for board/committee reviews of succession and pipeline health. Partnering with an L&D COE to build senior‑leader pipeline programs and leadership experiences at scale. Professional certification in executive coaching or leadership development (e.g., ICF, Hogan, Korn Ferry). Experience working with or for a Fortune 250 organization.
