Key Responsibilities

• Perform thorough mental health assessments for students, evaluating their personal histories, concerns, and any identifiable risk factors.
• Collaborate with each student to develop and implement individualized treatment plans that address specific mental health issues, encouraging emotional health and effective integration into the school environment.
• Deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and trauma-informed care, tailoring approaches to meet diverse student needs.
• Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions, emphasizing personal development and teaching coping strategies to foster resilience among students.
• Work closely with other mental health professionals, including psychiatrists and psychologists, to ensure a unified approach to student care.
• Provide immediate support during mental health crises, utilizing de-escalation techniques and, if necessary, referring students for additional services.
• Engage in psychoeducation efforts with students and families to raise awareness of mental health issues, treatment options, and available resources.
• Maintain comprehensive and current records of assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes in line with legal and ethical standards.
• Participate in team meetings and professional development activities, aiming to enhance collaborative strategies and clinical practice.
• Stay informed on the latest laws and ethical guidelines relating to mental health practices within the educational framework.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The primary focus of this position is the student population at our partnered schools, with an emphasis on addressing a multitude of mental health challenges. Our students come from diverse backgrounds, allowing for rich opportunities to implement culturally sensitive practices. You will work to provide an accepting space for students grappling with anxiety, depression, trauma, and other mental health issues, promoting their emotional well-being and academic success.

Qualifications

• A Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited institution.
• Valid LCSW licensure in the state of New Jersey is a must.
• At least two years of post-licensure experience, ideally in mental health or educational settings.
• In-depth knowledge of mental health disorders, evidence-based treatment options, and trauma-informed approaches.
• Expertise in conducting comprehensive assessments and formulating targeted treatment plans.
• Experience in providing therapy in both individual and group settings, employing various methodologies as needed.
• Strong skills in crisis intervention and maintaining composure in high-stress situations.
• Exceptional communication abilities, with a knack for building trust with students and families from varied backgrounds.
• Sound judgment in clinical settings and a commitment to ethics and professional standards.
• Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and general computer proficiency.

Preferred Experience

• Prior experience delivering mental health interventions in school settings or similar environments.
• Background in working with a diverse range of students and families.
• Familiarity with common challenges facing today's youth in educational contexts.

Compensation and Benefits

The annual salary for this position ranges from USD 80,000 to 100,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
