Senior Accountant

Senior Accountant | Location: Off-Site | Contract | Hourly Pay Range: $30-$35

The Senior Accountant role offers an opportunity to work remotely within a dynamic financial environment focused on maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with GAAP. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional experienced in general ledger management, account reconciliation, and financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Reconcile and maintain the general ledger and bank statements to ensure accuracy.
• Support month-end and year-end closing activities to meet reporting deadlines.
• Prepare financial statements, reports, and budgets, ensuring precision and timeliness.
• Analyze financial data to assess the organization's financial position and identify discrepancies.
• Strengthen internal controls by developing and documenting accounting policies and procedures.
• Provide technical accounting support and guidance to management teams.
• Review and improve accounting systems and processes for operational efficiency.
• Assist with tax audits and the preparation of tax returns, ensuring compliance.
• Coordinate internal and external audits to verify adherence to financial standards.
• Support the establishment of financial standards and contribute to the forecasting process.

Required Qualifications

• Proven experience in senior accounting roles such as Senior Accountant, Chief Accountant, or Financial Controller.
• Thorough knowledge of accounting procedures and GAAP compliance.
• Hands-on experience with general ledger functions and month-end/year-end close processes.
• Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks or FreshBooks.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including VLOOKUP and pivot tables.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or a relevant professional certification such as CMA or CPA (preferred).

• Experience with financial reporting and internal controls development.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills for collaborating with management and auditors.
