Description

The Bilingual Family Resources Assistant supports family engagement and access to community resources for students and families connected to Mark Twain Elementary School. This position serves as a bilingual liaison among families, school staff, Sunbeam team members, and community partners. Responsibilities include providing Spanish/English communication support, assisting with outreach and family engagement activities, connecting families to resources, and maintaining welcoming spaces where parents and caregivers can access information and support.

Minimally RequiredPreferredEducation: High School Diploma or GEDExperience: Experience communicating effectively with families and children in Spanish and English languagesSkillsKnowledgeAbilities: Fluent Bilingual Spanish/English conversational ability to interact accurately and effectively with children and families from multilingual homesAbility to accurately interpret and translate information between English and Spanish, both verbal and written.Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.Caring and compassionate attitude when interacting with and caring for children and familiesAble to exercise good judgment and handle stress appropriatelyWillingness to work with high-risk, low-income communitiesAccepting interpersonal approach that reflects cultural sensitivity to the unique and diverse experiences of families servedAble to effectively and respectfully communication and support diverse families, professionals and community groupsIntermediate knowledge of computer operations and applications and the ability to master other computer technology/software programs, as neededStrong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environmentValid Oklahoma driver's license and state required vehicle insurance for any vehicle used in performance of job dutiesLocal travel required plus work some evenings and weekends, as required by the job

Noise levels may range from moderate to loud depending on activities and location. The employee may work in close proximity to school-aged children and families and may occasionally be exposed to illnesses and other conditions commonly present in educational settings.
