Partner with a dedicated educational team in a rewarding contract role, working closely with kindergarten students as a 1:1 paraprofessional. This part-time opportunity offers morning hours, perfect for those seeking a work-life balance while making a positive impact. You'll provide essential support to a student with a visual impairment, offering safety guidance and braille assistance, all under the direction and mentorship of a vision specialist and resource specialist program (RSP) teacher.
Key Qualifications:
- Prior experience as a school paraprofessional, especially supporting students with disabilities
- Familiarity with visual impairments and a willingness to learn braille (training may be provided)
- Patience, strong communication skills, and a supportive attitude
- Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, specialists, and families
- Commitment to maintaining safety and encouraging student independence
Primary Responsibilities:
- Work one-on-one with a kindergarten student with a visual impairment during school hours (7:55am-11:30am, Monday-Friday)
- Support instructional activities and help adapt materials, including braille resources
- Ensure the student’s safety and create an encouraging, inclusive environment
- Implement individualized support strategies outlined by the vision specialist and RSP teacher
- Assist the student with transitions, activities, and classroom participation
