Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct initial and ongoing evaluations of clients' mental, emotional, and behavioral health through detailed interviews and assessments.

• Develop and implement effective treatment plans tailored to meet the individual needs of clients, which may involve individuals, couples, families, and groups.
\n
• Facilitate both individual and group therapy sessions aimed at addressing various psychological issues, such as anxiety, depression, and trauma.
\n
• Closely monitor client progress and adapt treatment strategies as required to ensure optimal outcomes throughout the therapeutic journey.
\n
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including psychiatrists, social workers, and nursing staff, to ensure an integrated approach to client care.
\n
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client interactions, assessments, and progress notes within our electronic health record system, ensuring compliance with best practices.

• Engage in follow-up communications regarding clients' hospitalizations or referrals, maintaining a continuous support framework.
\n
• Assist families and caregivers in understanding mental health challenges and provide supportive strategies to foster recovery.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

The ideal candidate will work with a diverse array of clients facing mental health challenges, including adolescents and adults managing conditions such as mood disorders, anxiety, substance use issues, and complex trauma. Our focus on outpatient care means you will help individuals navigate real-life scenarios and develop coping strategies, facilitating meaningful improvements in their day-to-day functioning.

Qualifications\n

• A master's or doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.

• Current and valid licensure as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of New Jersey.

• A passing score on the National Counselor Exam (NCE) and/or the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE).

• Proficiency in utilizing electronic health record systems, preferably AVATAR, to manage client documentation.

Preferred Experience\n

• A minimum of two years of direct experience as a mental health counselor, demonstrating proficiency in clinical settings.

• Experience in addressing co-occurring disorders, including addiction and underlying mental health conditions.
\n
• Familiarity with the best practice guidelines established by the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA).

• Strong understanding of psychotropic medications and their implications for treatment.

Avella Behavioral Health Center offers a competitive salary range of USD 80,000 – 100,000 annually, complemented by a sign-on bonus to support your transition to our team.
